A bit more about me

What's the most enjoyable thing about your work?
I love helping people to achieve the business the first dreamt of. That might be as simple as taking away the hassle and worry of their accounts or coaching them through to success.

What is your vision for your business?
This isn't my first business so it's all about creating somewhere I and my team enjoy working for fabulous clients. This means that we only take on clients who fit our business values and are fun to work with.

If you could give one single piece of advice to a new start up business, what would it be?
Be clear what YOU want out of your business and don't lose sight of that.

Which business person or company do you admire most and why?
Deborah Meaden has been successful without compromising her values. She's also rather keen on businesses knowing their numbers before they enter the Dragons' Den.

Which one phrase or quote sums up your attitude to business life?
Life is too short not to enjoy what you do for a living.

What made you join WMB and how do you plan to make the most of the network?
I've spoken at a few of the groups and love the ethos and friendships that are obvious in each group.

What do you do at week-ends?
Cook and eat! Weekends are for me so I try not to let work spill into my personal time.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what 2 luxury items would you take?
Books!

What book are you currently reading?
Only one? I usually have several on the go as I like business books and trashy romances in paperback, Kindle, and audio formats.

What book(s) would you recommend?
Obviously my own as I wrote that to answer all the questions that my clients ask! Growing by Numbers: how to scale up your small business with confidence. I regularly recommend Bryony Thomas's Watertight Marketing, Michael Gerber's E-Myth, The Twelve Week Year, and Atomic Habits.

Who's your personal hero and why?
My Mum. She's the only person I'm scared of ;-)

What is your worst experience in business or work?
Working for a traditional manufacturing company that seemed to live in the past so they focused on reducing costs rather than investing for growth.

What was your first ever job?
Working in a library. I've also worked as a cleaner, bar staff, waitress, lifeguard, swimming teacher, English teacher in France, French teacher in UK. athletics coach. Most of my career has been spent in accounts, IT, coaching and professional speaking.

Where is your favourite place in the world and why?
Anywhere near water, whether that's the sea, a river, or a lake. Water is my relaxing, happy place.
